Rachel Shebesh is the former woman representative of Nairobi county. She had been elected as the woman representative under the National Alliance Party. She however lost the seat in 2017 to the current Nairobi woman representative Esther Passaris.

Age

Rachel was born in the year 1971 in Nairobi.

Education/Career

Rachel attended Lavington Primary school between 1977 and 1985 and later went to Kianda secondary school. she trained as a designer at the London College of art and design and later joined Nairobi University for a Bachelor of Arts (political science) degree.

Rachel is the UN Champion for disaster risk reduction in Africa, where she promotes synergy between disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in Africa, and works closely with African parliamentarians to obtain political commitment to disaster risk reduction policies.

Family

His father is the late former Nairobi mayor, Samuel Wainaina Mbugua who was born in  Kariua in Murang’a County.  He served as the Nairobi Mayor between 1998 and 1999. He died in Aga Khan Hospital in 2017 while receiving treatment.

Marriage

Rachel is married to Frank Shebesh and together they have three children. She appreciates the fact that she is married to the most supportive husband.

There were alot of rumours going round the social media platforms that the two were having an affair, rumours which Shebesh failed to comment about saying that there are battles she does not fight but instead leaves them to God.
