Alfred Sambu attende Magemo Primary School for his CEE from 1950 to 1953 and later to Lugulu Intermediate School for his KAPE from 1954 and 1958. After attaining his KAPE, he went to Friends School Kamusinga for ‘O’ Level Certificate from 1959 to 1962 and also got his ‘A’ Level Certificate at the same school from 1963 to 1964. Alfred Sambu was enrolled at East African Community Management Institute for Eastern and Southern Africa in Arusha to take a Diploma in Management in 1975. Between 1965 and 1969 Alfred Sambu joined the University of Westminster in London for BSc (Hons) in Electrical Engineering.

In November 1964, Samba got his first job at E. A. Posts & Telecoms Regional Training School, Nairobi as an Instructor, Physics and Mathematics till July 1965. In June 1970, he got a job at E.A. Posts & Telecoms Corporation to work as a Kenya Regional Executive Engineer and in June 1971, at the same corporate, E.A. Posts & Telecoms Corporation, worked as a Senior Executive Engineer. In August 1973, Samba was promoted to be a Chief of Major Works Construction in Kenya at E.A. Posts & Telecoms Corporation and in July 1975 at E.A. Posts & Telecoms Corporation, Headquarters, Mr. Alfred Sambu was a Chief Long Range Planning & Resource Co-ordination, & Deputy Engineer-in-Chief.

In January 1977, he joined St. Johns Ambulance, Kenya, as a Member governing Council. From 1976 to 1979 he worked at International Aeradio (E. A.) Limited as a Commercial Director & Consultant. In December 1984, at AFC Leopards S.C., Sambu was appointed as a chairman. Between 1979 and 2007, he was self-Employed working as a director & consultant. In August 1993, Mr. Alfred Sambu was a secretary in KANU at Bungoma Branch. From December 2002 to January 2013, he joined the politics and became a Member of Parliament in Kenya National Assembly representing Webuye Constituency.
