Aden Bare Duale is a Kenyan politician, who is the former Majority Leader of the National Assembly of Kenya under the Jubilee Party. In 2013, Aden Duale was elected under the United Republican Party (URP) and re-elected in 2017 under the Jubilee Party. Aden Duale is of Somali ethnicity representing Garissa Township constituency. He has served as a representative of the Dujis Constituency since the 2007 parliamentary elections. Aden Duale switched parties for the 2013 elections, and won as a member of the United Republican Party (URP), after initially being elected with the Orange Democratic Movement.
Aden Duale was born on June 15th, 1969.
He got married to the former chief of general staff, Mohamud Mohammed’s daughter and they have been blessed with five sons.
He started his education at Boystown Primary School in 1975 and later moved to Garissa High School before Moi Forces Academy Nakuru in 1986. Aden Duale studied for a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Moi University. Aden also has an Executive MBA from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Aden Duale has done several important courses such as Conflict and project Marketing.
He started his career as a teacher at Sankuri Secondary School in 1992 but did not finish the first two terms. Aden became a clerical officer at the provincial commissioner’s office in Garissa for six months, after quitting teaching, and quit because of little money. Duale then joined the family business before becoming the director at KBC and served till 2003. Aden has had other businesses like a strategist and a businessman. Aden Duale is also the founder member and CEO of Livestock Marketing Society of Kenya.
In 2007, Aden Duale joined the politics and was elected as an MP for Dujis Constituency under the Orange Democratic Party (ODM), something his father-inlaw was not so happy about. In April 2008, Aden became the Assistant Minister of Livestock. Duale has also been a significant person in some events like in the new constitution where he was the head of the YES team in North Eastern. Duale was the ODM national vice chairman till he did not agree with party leadership and was one of the members that founded The United Republican Party (URP) and a useful member of G7 leadership. Aden Duale is a strong supporter of the Uhuru and Ruto Government after quitting ODM in 2011.
