Betadine Mouth Wash/Gargle-Uses, Dosage, Composition, Side Effects, How to Use.

Betadine mouth wash solution contains the active ingredient Povidone-Iodine(PVP-I). Its a broad spectrum microbicide for use on the mucus membranes of the mouth and throat.

Composition

100ml solution contains: 1g Povidone-Iodine with a content of 10% available iodine. Contains 8.38% Absolute Alcohol content by volume.

Indications/Uses

For the treatment of infected inflammatory conditions of the mouth and pharynx including stomatitis, gingivitis, aphthous ulcers, pharyngitis, tonsilitis, monilial infections, common colds and influenza

As a prophylactic during and after surgery eg after tonsillectomy and dental procedures.

Routine use to promote oral hygiene

Side Effects

Very rarely, hypersensitive skin reactions may occur eg itching, redness, blisters etc

Dosage

As advised by your doctor or pharmacist as dosage depends on your clinical condition.

How to Use Betadine Mouth Wash

Use undiluted or diluted with equal volume of water.

For prophylactic use, the solution should be allowed to act in the mouth for a minimum of 30 seconds.

With existing lesions the mouth should be rinsed with the solution for 2 minutes especially after meals.
