Eugene Wamalwa, whose full name is Eugene Ludovic Wamalwa, is a Kenyan politician and the Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Devolution and ASALs, the expansion of the former Ministry of Devolution. Before then, Eugene was Cabinet Secretary for Water and Irrigation. Wamalwa is also a former minister for Justice and belongs to the Jubilee Party. In 2007, Eugene was elected as an MP for Saboti Constituency in the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election.

Eugene Wamalwa Career

In 1995, he was admitted to the bar and joined private legal practice thereafter. Among Eugene Wamalwa’s highlights as a practising lawyer was representing President Yoweri Museveni in the 2001 Uganda presidential election petition against Kizza Besigye, who was an opposition leader. The death of his brother,vice president Wamalwa Kijana, in 2003 vacated the Saboti MP seat. Eugene vied for the seat on Republican Party of Kenya (RPK), in the following by-elections, where he lost to Davies Wafula Nakitare of NARC.

In 2007, Eugene again contested and won the Saboti parliamentary seat on a FordKenya ticket under the PNU umbrella. Eugene showed interest as a candidate in the 2013 presidential elections but later decided to support Hon. Mudavadi under the AMANI Coalition. Wamalwa was nominated as the Cabinet Secretary for Water and Irrigation Services on 17 April 2015.
