Gusii Institute of Technology: Kisii Polytechnic History and Courses

Gusii Institute of Technology is the former name of Kisii National Polytechnic, a public technical and vocational training institution in Kisii County. It was founded in 1971 and upgraded to national polytechnic status in 2016. It is not a separate institution from today’s Kisii National Polytechnic.

Gusii Institute of Technology Courses

History and growth

The institution traces its beginnings to a meeting of Abagusii leaders on 19 December 1971. It originally provided technical training to support employment and practical skills development. The college expanded over time and gained national polytechnic status in 2016.

Former courses and training

Earlier catalogues included artisan, certificate, diploma and higher-diploma studies in engineering, architecture, building technology, electrical installation, mechanical skills, ICT, applied sciences, accounting, hospitality and business. Those historical lists should not be mistaken for a current programme prospectus.

Present-day Kisii National Polytechnic

The polytechnic’s official website at kisiipoly.ac.ke provides institutional details and training information. The official admissions portal supports applications, admission letters, current programme lists, prospectus and fee information. For further details, read the Kisii National Polytechnic guide.
