Important historical notice: Inoorero University, later known as the International University of Professional Studies (IUPS), is not a current university admission option. Kenya’s Commission for University Education (CUE) barred it from admitting new students in 2015, and the regulator announced plans to wind it up in 2016. This page documents its history rather than inviting applications for new courses.
What happened to Inoorero University?
The institution began as Kenya School of Professional Studies and was granted a letter of interim authority to operate as a private university in 2009. It adopted the Inoorero University name that October and later used the name International University of Professional Studies (IUPS).
The institution experienced financial problems that led to the sale of its Parklands campus tower in Nairobi. Mount Kenya University purchased the building. In January 2015, CUE stopped new admissions after concluding that Inoorero lacked adequate infrastructure following the property sale.
The regulator allowed a limited period for existing students to complete their courses or make alternative arrangements. In March 2016, CUE publicly described the wind-up process. Subsequent reporting in 2017 described the university as shut. Prospective applicants should not interpret an old website or a directory listing from 2016 as proof that the university is currently licensed to admit students.

What about former students and qualifications?
A former student seeking transcripts, academic verification or replacement certificates should not send money or personal documents to the old admissions contacts in this article. Instead, contact the Commission for University Education to ask how records from the closed institution are handled, and seek guidance from any receiving university or relevant authority. The academic validity of an individual qualification depends on the institution’s authority and the relevant programme and period; it cannot be established from this directory article.
Old admissions details and contacts
The former Parklands address, iu.ac.ke download links, bank accounts and application-fee instructions are historical and have been removed from the actionable guidance. The university is not shown as an available admissions provider in the CUE’s 2026 approved-universities resources. Any organisation claiming to admit students in its name should be verified directly with the regulator before you provide information or money.
Editor’s update — October 27, 2026: Corrected the outdated 2016 course and admissions information to reflect the regulator’s action and closure history. The original URL, date, author and archived image are retained.
