Kenya Power(kplc) owns and operates most of the electricity transmission and distribution system in the country and sells electricity to over 2.6 million customers (as at April 2014).

We have a wide number of convenient ways to pay your electricity bills
Paying your Electricity Bill with M-Pesa (Safaricom)-Postpay
1. Select “Pay Bill” from the M-Pesa menu.
2. Enter the Kenya Power business number 888 888.
3. Enter your full Kenya Power account number e.g. 123456-01.
4. Enter the amount you wish to pay which should be between Shs. 100 and Shs.35,000.
5. Enter your M-Pesa PIN.
6. Confirm that all details are correct.
7. You will receive a confirmation of the transaction via SMS.
Please note that it takes 48 hours for Kenya Power to update your account.
Paying your Electricity Bill with Airtel Money (Airtel)
1. Select ”Airtel Money” from the menu.
2. Click on “Make Payments”.
3. Select “Paybill”.
4. Choose Kenya Power Bill for postpaid bill OR Kenya Power Prepaid for purchase of tokens.
5. Enter the amount you wish to pay.
6. Enter your Airtel Money PIN.
5. Under the reference option, type your full Kenya Power account number e.g. 123456-01.6. Confirm that all details are correct.
7. You will receive a confirmation of the transaction via SMS.
The transaction takes 24 hours to be updated.
How to buy KPLC token via Mpesa-Prepay
Step 1
Go to MPESA menu select “pay bill”
Step 2
Enter the Kenya Power prepaid business number 888880 and press OK
Step 3
Enter the 11 digit pre-payment meter number that you would like to purchase a token for and press OK
Step 4
Enter the amount you wish to purchase electricity token (between KShs. 250 and 35,000) and press OK
Step 5
Enter your M-PESA PIN and press OK Confirm that all the details are correct and press OK
Step 6
You will receive a confirmation SMS from MPESA immediately. Kenya Power will then generate a KPLC token number for your meter and send it to you via sms.

E-bill is an electronic bill querying service from Kenya Power. It allows you to check your electricity account balance and bill due date any time, by SMS or e-mail.
How E-bill Works

The E-bill SMS service allows you to query your electricity account balance and bill due date using your mobile phone. Follow these easy steps:
Open a new SMS message.
Type the first part of your account number in the message field. For example, if your account number is 998877-01, just type 998877.
Send this message to 95551.
In a few seconds you will receive an automatic reply with your account balance details. This service works for Kenyan networks. It is charged at Kshs. 5/- above the normal SMS rates.
Kplc: E-bill e-mail Service
The E-bill e-mail service enables you to check your electricity account balance and bill due date via e-mail. Here are the simple steps to follow:
Open a new e-mail message.
Type the first part of your account number in the subject field. For example, if your account number is 998877-01, just type 998877.
Email the blank message to bill(at)kplc.co.ke Within a few minutes you will receive an automatic reply with your account balance details and payment due date.
It is important to key in the correct account number and follow the procedure of sending the message in order to get a positive response. Also note that despite the introduction of E-bill services, your detailed electricity bill will continue to be dispatched through your postal address.
