Madaraka Express- The Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) is a flagship project by the Government of Kenya as a transport component aimed at delivering Vision 2030 making Kenya a middle income country by 2030.

Madaraka Express Booking.

Passengers travelling on the Madaraka Express train can now book their tickets online. The online platform will enable a customer to purchase up to a maximum of five tickets per transaction and pay through M-Pesa.
Upon payment, the customer will receive a transaction confirmation message through their mobile phone with an option to check the ticket status online.
Customers have been relying on USSD Payment Solution by dialing *639# on their Safaricom lines and paying via Mpesa while Others have had to visit the nearest SGR station to purchase tickets over the counter.

-Select the preferred type of train
-Select your starting station
-Select your destination
-Select the travel date
-Select the coach type and indicate the number of passangers
-Enter the passenger details
-Select the payment option

Madaraka Express: Book a Ride with your Mobile Phone and Pay via M-pesa

1. Customer calls 0709 388 888 (from 7am to 4pm) and provides his/her travel itinerary plus mobile number
2. Cashier enters itinerary, customer mobile number and generates amount to be paid by the customer
3. Customer receives sms with pay Bill number, payment ID and amount
4. Customer makes payment via M-PESA using payment details provided
5. Customer receives ticket details via SMS
6. Customer prints boarding pass at the self-service machine at the train station

Customers should print the ticket at the Madaraka Express Passenger Stations using details provided in the confirmation message.
Passangers can now book tickets 30 days in advance.
Group bookings( over 20 passangers) must be officially made 32 days to the date of travel.
