James Maina Ng’ang’a who known to many as Pastor Ng’ang’a is a pastor at Neno Evangelism Centre. Ng’ang’a is a rock star kind of evangelist with a wide following and reputed for performing ‘miracles.’
His story is one of rags to riches where his lavish lifestyle, belies a poverty-stricken childhood and several jail terms for theft and other misdemeanours as reported by Sunday Nation of January 21, 2007. However, it is not clear when he was jailed. In 1992, Neno Evangelism was formed by Ng’ang’a. In 2007, William Mburu who is his manager estimated that the church was worth Sh100 million. The church is located along Haile Selassie Avenue. A local radio station reported that a drunk Pastor Ng’ang’a got into a fight with his wife and security guard in 2012.

Marriage
He got married to Loise Murugi after his first wife, who had four children with him, passed on. In 2012, they tied the knot in a colorful ceremony at the Windsor Golf Club. Since the things were not well in his marital paradise, his wife decided to wash the family’s dirty linen in court. She filed a case at the Milimani Children’s Court in Nairobi and accused him of assaulting her physically and not providing for their child. According to her, the marriage nosedived when they were traveling to China for her sister’s graduation where he started insulting her on the plane and later abandoned her and the child.
Loise alleged that he later sent her a message bragging he had done a shopping worth Sh3 million and that he did not care about the graduation. He reportedly called his wife to apologize for the ill-treatment towards her, this happened five days after the graduation. She claimed that one day, she found him drinking and the two disagreed which resulting in a brawl. After the incident, she said that she received a text message threatening her not to go back home. He changed the door locks to deny her access to the house. His wife was forced to go back with their child to her mother’s house.
Loice added that when they later met over the incident, he reportedly got drunk and beat her. Pastor is an abusive man, a drunkard and a man who lacks good moral grounding as he has no respect for anyone, not even his wife’s mother. Ng’ang’a mistreats his children and even brings women to his house. This has led to his children being stressed and adopting a ‘don’t-care’ attitude that she would not wish for her child.
Scandal
Pastor was involved in an accident on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway that killed one and left another person in critical condition. He was said to have driving Range Rover on the wrong side of the road when the vehicle collided with another that had two passengers who were couple.
He was in court after his wife filed a case claiming that she had been physically abused and that he did not care about his child.
