Robert Mbui is a Kenyan politician and a current member of the National Assembly representing Kathiani Constituency. Mbui is a Deputy Leader of Minority in the National Assembly. Robert is the fifth member of parliament to represent the constituency since its inception in 1988. Robert holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Management from the Kenya Institute of Management.

Education

From 1975 to 1981, Mbui attended Kahawa Primary School for his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE). Between 1982 and 1985, he went to Kabete Technical School for his Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) and in 1986 till 1987, moved to Moi Forces Academy to earn a Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) for his A-Level. In 1988, Mbui joined the Kenyatta University to take a Bachelor of Education (Arts) and graduated in 1991. From 2007 to 2008, he moved to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) to study a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Marriage

Robert got married to Janet Mbui, who is the director of the Mutungoni Academy School. The two have two sons and a daughter namely Carlton, Shawn and Lakita. Robert is a grandson to the late Army chief, General Jackson Mulinge.

Career

Robert was first elected to Parliament in 2013. Before Robert was elected, he had served as the CDF chairman for the Kathiani constituency before Mavoko constituency was carved out of it between 2008 and 2011. During Robert’s tenure as CDF chair, he initiated several projects to improve the education and health sector. Under Robert’s stewardship the constituency fund was voted the best used in the country. Robert’s track record and social skills propelled him to the Kenya National Assembly where he is now serving his second term. During the 2017 elections, Robert was among the best performers countrywide. Robert belongs to the Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) and is now the party’s national organizing secretary. Apart from the politics he has various investments and most notably in the education sector where he is the founder and owner of the Mutungoni Academy in Athi River.
