Victor Naman Omutula also known as Victor Naman is known to many as the weeping Luhya person complaining about food, not eating enough. He is also a businessman. He owns a café known as Vick-Anne Fish Point at Kimbo in Juja where people can get fish and ugali. He runs the café with his spouse called Anne. He started Comedy when he was at Shikomare Primary School in Kakamega. He had to mimic teachers and try to be funny in class.
Then he went to St Peter’s Mumias Boys High School. He never joined drama club throughout both levels of education, preferring the ‘off-stage performances’ to make other pupils laugh. Victor’s antics got him into trouble with his high school’s deputy headteacher where he had just left class and Victor started mimicking him. He did not know that the deputy headteacher would be coming back immediately because he wanted to speak to the class prefect. Victor just heard him shout, What are you doing? and the class burst into laughter.
Deputy led him to the staffroom and told him to imitate every single teacher he could. To his surprise, they just laughed and gave him money to buy bread (bread was a big deal in school).
Age
Victor’s age is not yet in public domain though will be updated as soon as it’s available.
Education
In his primary education, be attended Shikomare Primary School, Kakamega and joined St Peter’s Mumias Boys High School, after the completion of primary school, for Secondary school. In 2006, he was enrolled for Electronic Engineering at Railways Training Institute.
Marriage
He met his lady sometimes back and tied the knot later. They have been blessed with a son known as Larry. People who come to Vick-Anne, always want to hear a joke from him. He sometimes incorporate his wife in his videos and did a Valentine’s Day video with her. She had not really acted before, so he had to train her a bit and she caught on fast.
Ann came through because other actors would ask for money to appear in these videos thinking that he makes a lot of money from them. They chose the name Priscilla because it’s a very common in Luhya tribe. Ann’s character also likes to eat a lot. His son laughs a lot and does some crazy things, but Victor does not want to put him on social media just yet. When his son grows up, he will have to make his own decision on what he wants to pursue.
Career
He started visiting the Kenya National Theatre looking for opportunities to audition for roles, but beard no fruits while he was still in college. He, eventually, joined the comedy group Rib Crackers and they came up with the idea of a prank show. They began with Naswa on Citizen TV before they went to K24. He used to do appearances at some events, then the XYZ Show’s head of the voice department, Edward Khaemba came to him at one event and told him to try out for it. He auditioned for several voices, but they told him that he was perfect for the voice of Atwoli.
His first own-concept show was Mr. Speaker Sir on the now-closed QTV. He is so enthralled by the country’s politics and he follows the happenings everywhere. It is an idea he had and shared it with one of the executive producers at Ken TV and they partnered to produce the pilot. The three TV stations were interested but QTV came in fast to pick it up. It ran for one year before the station was closed. He starred as the parody of former Parliament Speaker Kenneth Marende. He is the director for Kaa Rada and Ikara Ritho that used to air on Citizen TV and Inooro TV, respectively. He would just act a fool and get the guys falling over themselves with laughter when going to locations for shoots.
Gathoni Kimuyu, Kaa Rada’s producer, would say to him that Victor you should think of starting a YouTube or Facebook page. He used to ignore that suggestion. One Sunday it hit him where he made a video complaining about why he was not there when Jesus fed 5,000 people and so much food was leftover. The video went viral on WhatsApp and he had not even yet thought of putting up the pages on social media. In January 2017, he created the Facebook page and posted the video. He started doing short video posts on the ‘Luhya guy’, politics and current events, and the reception has been wonderful.
His YouTube page which he started few months later, is also picking up. Improving his social media presence has resulted in more invites to MC or perform at events especially political rallies and weddings. His videos dwell on food and politics, and then things trending across the country. When nothing is interesting happening politically or making the news, he goes back to his gluttonous character. He looks at what angle of chicken or ugali as food topics he can explore in a video. If it is politics, he looks at what the hot topic is and what, say Raila or Ruto, would talk about in his views. He can imitate over 40 character voices. He meets guys in the street and they just start laughing. He appreciates that they recognize his efforts. However, sometimes people come into his space too much.
Churchill called him to imitate Raila Odinga when he had invited him to the show. He did and later on, Churchill asked Raila what he thought of Victor’s performance. Raila gave him a six out of ten. He performed for Ida Odinga and she also seemed to like it.
Son
He has a son called Larry.
