Catherine Waruguru whose full name is Catherine Wanjiku Waruguru, is a Kenyan politician from Laikipia County, popularly known as ‘mrembo wa Laikipia’ (Laikipia’s beautiful woman).
Catherine is the current women representative for Laikipia County and the Jubilee Party’s member. Catherine Wanjiku Waruguru is a nominated ward representative in the Laikipia County Assembly from 2013.

Catherine Wanjiku attended Kanyama Secondary School in Mathira, Nyeri County. She later enrolled for a Diploma course in theology at Karatina Institute of Theological College in 2007.
Catherine enrolled, three years later, for another diploma in business management at the Kenyan Institute of Management in 2014. she then joined Karatina University for an undergraduate degree in Business Management and graduated in 2016. Catherine is now pursuing her master’s degree in management and innovation at the KCA (Kenya College of Accountancy).
Career
Catherine Wanjiku Waruguru served as Access Kenya’s manager for the Nanyuki zone before joining politics in 2013. The defunct TNA Party led by President Uhuru Kenyatta nominated her to the Laikipia County Assembly in 2013. This served as her springboard as she vied for the Laikipia Women representative seat under Jubilee Party ticket in 2017. Catherine Wanjiku is the current women representative for Laikipia County and Jubilee Party’s member. Catherine Wanjiku resigned from her job at Access Kenya to join politics as a nominated MCA in 2013.

She got married to Wakili Kigen and the two together are blessed with two children. She is among the people who are in support of polygamy in the country premised. She said that women should not be held back by ‘societal decisions’.
Family
She was born in Central Kenya in a humble background family. Waruguru recounted how hard her childhood was after her mother passed on and she was left to fend for her younger brother and herself.
