Owen Mwatia popularly known as Daddy Owen is a Kenyan Contemporary Christian music artist. He was born on January 1982 in Kakamega.
Daddy Owen did not join a college because of financial constraints. He had no other option than traveling to Nairobi where he got a job in a matatu sacco as a matatu tout. The income he earned from this job was too little that it could not sustain his upkeep and that of the family. Daddy Owen used to be a pick pocket in Nairobi. He was attacked and almost killed by a mob.
During the MTV Africa Music Awards, he received the Best Anglophone award for the song Tobina in 2010. From the year 2009 to 2011, he had been the Groove Awards male artist of the year. His track Saluti earned three consecutive groove award nominations and managed to win in all the three categories.
