Grace Jelagat Kimoi Kipchoim was Kenyan politician who was a Kenyan representative in the National Assembly of Kenya for Baringo South Constituency seat under United Republican Party (URP) ticket. Grace Jelagat was a coalition member of the Jubilee Alliance and a member of the United Republican Party (URP). Grace won the legislative seat while sick and did very few mobile campaigns compared to her main challenger, Charles Kamuren (KANU) who garnered 8,905 votes as compared to her 9,299 votes. Early in 2018, rumours on social media claimed that Grace had died, but she came out to defend herself and said that people were being peddled by her detractors to tarnish her name. On 20 April 2018, however, Grace died of cancer while under treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

She was the wife to the late Stanley Kipruto Chebti and daughter of Kipchoim Chebor and the late Targok Kipchoim. Grace was sister of the late Samuel, Christine, Solomon, Joseph, Irene, Johanna, Hellen and Rael. She was a mother of Dr Shadrack Kiprop, Meshack Kibarar, Faith Jemaina and Sharon Jemosop. Grace was a step mother of Lorok, Brenda and Lynn and doting grandma of Nathan Kipyegon Kibarar. She was also in-law of Eunice, the late Benson, Kamuren, the late Dickson, Salina, Jepkemoi Jonathan and Kibet Chebii.

Before joining into politics in 2013, Grace was the secretary of Baringo Central Constituency Development Fund. Grace was also known to be in the forefront in the fight against outdated cultural practices including cattle rustling and female genital mutilation among pastoralist communities in the North Rift region of Kenya.

Jelagat’s efforts saw the government deploy Kenya Police Reservists to Baringo Central constituency in the year 2014 following rampant cases of insecurity. Jelagat first contested for Baringo South parliamentary seat in the year 2013 which was hived off from Baringo Central Constituency.
