Jamhuri High School formerly known as Government Indian School and latter The Duke of Gloucester school, is located in Ngara Nairobi and is one of the oldest schools in Kenya.
It was founded as a Railway Educational Center In 1906. Prior to Kenya’s Independence from the British, the school Predominantly enrolled students from the Indian community in Nairobi, hence its former name Government Indian School.
In 1955 the schools name changed to the Duke of Gloucester School, Named after the Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester. After Kenya,s indipendence in 1964 the school was renamed Jamhuri High School. Since then the school has had diversified enrollment of students of African, Indian and White Heritage.
Jamhuri High School is generally know as Jamuu and its nick name is Dukes
