Joe Ageyo is a media personality who is known for his work with the Kenyan network, Citizen TV. He was born in April 1973, Bondo, Siaya county.

He attended Sawagongo High School for his secondary education, where he managed to get good marks. He joined Egerton University to pursue a Bachelor of Agribusiness Management. He completed his course at Egerton University and joined the University of Nairobi to take a Post-Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication. He later went abroad for further study, Switzerland at the University of Geneva to pursue a certificate in Advanced Studies in Environmental Diplomacy and later pursued a MSc in Environmental Governance from the University of Manchester.

In his career, Joe Ageyo started as an intern at Kenya Broadcasting where he worked for one and half with no payment. In 2000, he joined KTN as a general news reporter, where he was focused on environmental stories. He was also the Managing Editor at KTN. Joe Ageyo was widely acclaimed as having pioneered Environmental Journalism and was the first Kenyan TV journalist to start a regular slot for an environmental feature, Ecojournal. He has won several awards which includes ‘Environmental Journalist of the Year’ in 2001, in 2002, in Johannesburg he attended the World Summit on Sustainable Development after winning a World Bank fellowship, fellow of the Climate Change Media Partnership and a Catto Fellow at the Aspen Institute in Colorado. He worked for NTV from February 2005 to November 2012, which is private station owned by the Nation Media Group, holding various positions including the Head of News Production. He has also worked for KBC as well as Royal Media Services.
