The Kenya Defence Forces are the armed forces of the Republic of Kenya. National Defence Forces is comprised of The Kenya Army, Kenya Navy, and the Kenya Air Force. KDF Kenya is governed by the Kenya Defence Forces Act of 2012. The President of Kenya is the commander-in-chief of all the armed forces.
The Ministry of Defence is at Ulinzi House off Lenana Road in Nairobi. The Ministry of Defence is headed by the Cabinet Secretary who is responsible to the President and Commander – in – Chief on matters of policy. The Cabinet Secretary is appointed by the President and chairs the Defence Council which is responsible for the overall control and direction of the Kenya Defence Forces.
