Nimrod Mbithuka Mbai is a Kenyan politician and current Member of Parliament for Kitui East Constituency in Kitui County. Nimrod Mbai was elected on a Jubilee Party ticket in the August 8th general election. Nimrod Mbai won after garnering 14, 256 votes against 10, 899 votes garnered by NARC’s Militonic Mwendwa Kitute. Then the incumbent Member of Parliament, Mutua Muluvi came fourth with 5, 436 votes. Nimrod Mbai is an ex-police officer and served as security aide to the late Francis Nyenze and later to the current Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua. In 2013, the Governor appointed him to his government after he resigned from his police service. He caused controversy for his rape remarks against Kitui Governor Ngilu due to the governor’s support for poll boycott called by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Later, Nimrod Mbai apologised following public outcry and pressure from women’s rights group FIDA Kenya.

Nimrod Mbai started his education at Malatani Primary School to earn a Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) certificate. Later, he moved to the Ikanga Boys Secondary School for his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). Nimrod Mbai joined the University of Nairobi to take a Diploma in Public Relations and later moved back to the University of Nairobi to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communications. He then went to the Kenyatta University to pursue a Masters in Public Policy and Administration.
