Benson Makali Mulu is a Kenyan politician and a current Member of Parliament for Kitui Central Constituency in Kitui County. Benson Mulu has been a member of The Wiper Democratic Movement–Kenya (WDM-K) since 2013 and an Aspirant Member of Parliament of Republic of Kenya representing Kitui Central Constituency.

In 1973, he went to Mulundi Primary School for his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) and sat for his exam in 1979. From 1980 to 1983, Benson Mulu attended the Kyagwathya Secondary School for his O – Level Certificate. Between 1984 and 1985, Benson Mulu went to the St. Charles Lwanga for his A – Level Certificate. In 1987, Benson Mulu joined the University of Nairobi to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and graduated in 1990. From 1990 to 1992, he went back to the University of Nairobi to take a Master of Arts in Economics. In 1995, Benson Mulu moved to the University of East Anglia in United Kingdom to study a Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation of Public Programmes and Projects. Later in 2009 until 2015, attended the Kenyatta University to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics.

Benson Mulu is a married person and has children. In April 2015, Patience Wasai and Mwema Makali, who is his son, tied the knot at Safari Park Hotel.

In 1991, Benson Mulu was employed at Ministry of Finance and Planning working as an Economist/Statistician till in 1997. From 1997 to 2004, he joined the Community Development Trust Fund (CDTF) in Kenya as a Programme Officer in Monitoring and Evaluation. Between 2004 and 2007, joined the Governance, Justice, Law and Order Reform Programme (GJLOS) in Kenya as a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist. In 2007, he became a Self-Employed in Independent Consultant in Monitoring & Evaluation, General Programme/Project Management. In March 2013, Benson Mulu joined the Kenya National Assembly as a Member of Parliament for Kitui Central Constituency.
