Tuskys Supermarkets was once one of Kenya’s biggest home-grown retail chains. The business, operated through Tusker Mattress Limited, struggled with debts, supplier disputes and financial difficulties, and its supermarket stores closed. The locations once listed in Tuskys directories should not be treated as currently open branches.
History of the Tuskys business
The family-run supermarket business grew out of a retail enterprise associated with Joram Kamau. It expanded into Nairobi and many other Kenyan towns, providing groceries, household products and employment. Its extensive branch network made the Tuskys brand familiar to shoppers for many years.
What happened to Tuskys?
The chain began closing shops during its financial crisis in 2020. According to Business Daily reporting in April 2026, the collapse culminated in a court liquidation order in September 2023. Court proceedings over property, creditor and debt claims continued subsequently. This means old supermarket telephone numbers and branch descriptions are historical, not active customer-service guarantees.
Are there Tuskys supermarkets open today?
No reliable current operating branch network was confirmed in the reviewed reporting. Former buildings may now house other businesses; a property retaining an old Tuskys sign should not be assumed to be an operating Tuskys supermarket.
Historical branch locations
Tuskys formerly operated outlets in Nairobi and other Kenyan counties, including stores historically listed under Adams Arcade, Beba Beba, Eastleigh, Embakasi, Greenspan, Tom Mboya Street and T-Mall. The full original branch directory appears below strictly as an archive, and the published branch telephones and addresses are not verified as current.
Former customer care contacts
Older directories published 0706 171155 and customercare@tuskys.com. Their current operation has not been established. Creditors, suppliers or former employees with claims should rely on formal liquidation notices and legal or insolvency channels, not old customer-service numbers.
What shoppers should do instead
Search for an independently verified currently operating supermarket in the relevant location, and check opening hours and payment details with the new operator before travelling.
