Willis Raburu Education
Willis Raburu attended school in Aga Khan Primary and Secondary.
Willis Raburu lied to his father that he was pursuing a degree course in Information Technology, which was what the father wanted him to do.
On the contrary, Raburu was pursuing his passion: a degree course in Information Science at Moi University that could pave his way to the newsroom.
Although his father was unaware his son was pursuing a different
course, his mother shared in Willis Raburu passion and fully supported him.
“My mum watched me develop the interest for TV reporting from the tender age of seven. I would sit down and ask her to watch and hear me read news items from the dailies. She never shut me down. She always believed in me,”
He is glad that he followed his heart by pursuing a journalism course at Moi University from where he graduated in 2010.

Willis Raburu was born in Kano, Nyando District in Kisumu County. He is the 3rd born and last boy in a family of four.His father worked as a Provincial Commissioner
Willis Raburu is born again. He encountered Christ When in class 2 or 3.His father gathered the whole family together and them choose whether they wanted to get saved or not, so he got saved.
As he grew older he understood the depth of it all, and realized the importance of having a special relationship with God and that is when he got such peace and sense of purpose
Willis Raburu Career
Willis Raburu first joined K24 as an intern while in third year at Moi University.
At Moi University he volunteered at the University’s Radio station which many students looked down upon. He read news and hosted a show called Friday Afternoon Show.
In year 2010, a then senior reporter informed them that citizen was recruiting interns. He gave out his CVs to him and he got scheduled for an interview. Unfortunately, this was the day he was sitting for his final paper in Moi University, so he missed the interview.
However he was persistence and kept pushing the News Head to give him a chance. One day he got an interview call at around 5.30 while in Eldoret and had to be in Nairobi at 8.00pm. This was the beginning of being an intern at Citizen which later turned to a job.

After the Ocampo six went to Hague for the first time, they had a major rally at Uhuru park and he did a story on “The Lies at Uhuru Park.” The MD, Wachira Waruru, suggested that this can be done weekly. The Editorial Director inspired and motivated him in planning and executing the idea.
Later, he was allowed to be creative and this made him include music and animation.

Willis Raburu and Sally Mbilu engagement called off.
Raburu was engaged to Sally Mbilu but it seems they later called it quits, after hitting the headlines, thanks to their colourful engagement. Willis, had earlier revealed that the engagement ring cost him over Sh100,000.
“The engagement was at a waterfall, where they had their first date. She was extremely shocked and had mixed reactions, but he was very confident that she would say yes,” Willis said.
The wedding was to take place in 2015 as the bride price negotiations were underway.

Raburu tied the knot with the love of his life known as Mary Ngami Irungu, in a colorful ceremony held at Lush garden along Kiambu road, on 5th May 2017.
Children
Raburu and his wife Marya lost their daughter Adana in January 2020.
Divorce
Word going round is that Raburu has seperated with his wife Mary Ngami popularly know as Marya Prude after he was caught cheating with another woman. Raburu is said to be living with another woman in Kileleshwa while Marya is now living in Thindigwa which is in Kiambu after they vacated their house in Phenom Estate, in Langata.
