Mejja Meme Hadhija popularly known as Mejja is a Kenyan Genge artist, who is famous for his hit songs like ‘Landlord.’ He was part of a group known as Ghetto Clan with his brother Wambugu. He is also a member of the group called The Kansoul. He started singing when he was still young in primary to be specific.
In his career, initially, he could not write his own songs, so he would borrow content and sing it in school and his colleagues would give him encouragement. Celtel (currently known as airtel) was holding a talent search and they were looking for three contestants in every province and so when they came to his province, he also went for the competition. Fortunately Mejja was among the top three, then later in the finals. He managed to become number two where he won ksh. 20,000.
He was going through hard times, by that time. He decided to go to Nairobi to look for Clemo to talk to him and explain his situation and that’s when Clemo took him in. In 2008, his single, ‘Jana kuliendaje’ was a major hit and won him an award at Kenya’s Chaguo la Teeniz. Okonkwo wrote Kuliendaje song out of bitterness for his friend, Omari, who could come drunk at night and throw him out in the cold and then, the following morning he would look for Mejja and apologize saying he could not recall what happened.
Calif Records signed Okonkwo, which’s synonymous with two of biggest music personalities in Kenya, Jua Cali the rapper and Clemo the producer.

He has not yet revealed the year he was born but he celebrates his birthday on 23 May every year.

He was in a marriage for 5 years before being dumped by his ex-wife through a text, this threw him into a crippling depression though he moved on and is currently dating another girl. He confirmed the same through his instagram where he posted a photo of himself and his new catch.

The track gained more fame after Azziad Nasenya, a Kenyan actress, posted the video on her social media account. Since its posting on 1st April, the video has surpassed 1.4 million viewers on youtube and still rising at an alarming rate.
